All you need to know about falsies
Today on behalf of all our team, I’m going to uncover all of the mysteries and answer the most popular question we’re getting about the different types of false eyelashes. But before defining the main differences among them, let me explain to you the reason why we use that instrumental piece of enhancement and transformation. The truth is, every part of the makeup is equally important in creating a successful look. However, beautiful and pronounced eyelashes are crucial in really making eyes pop. Since our eyes are the window of the soul, this single change can make a girl go from “Oh” to “Wow” in just a blink of an eye.
Speaking from our every day experience with commercial, bridal, as well as fashion events and photo shoots, we know that the camera diminishes the intensity of any color, and to get a perfect photo your make up should be a couple shades darker than you would normally do. That also applies to eyelashes.
In this day and age, eyelashes come in all shapes and sizes, from natural to thick and dramatic fashion versions, that are made of feather or lace, to professional grade individual eyelashes that look just flawless. No wonder why so many girls feel lost when it comes to determining which ones are appropriate for an occasion and how to choose the right one for your face and eye shapes.
Good news is, that it’s not that hard as it seems, because we broke them down into the basic types and features so you can become a PRO at lashes yourself!
# Individual professional grade falsies
This is the only type used by our Team as they give a very different feel compared to strip lashes because they are less uniformed, and depending on how many we apply and which length we use, we can create any custom effect that is always feathery and natural looking. It’s extremely important to consider when taking close up shots of your face, as lashes is the first thing that draws out attention.
Individual lashes are extremely durable, and in our practice, never give us any problems. They can be easily removed by any oil-based makeup remover with the rest of your make up, which makes them single-use enhancements. The fact that they are typically a one day wear is probably the only sad thing about them, aside that they usually require a professional application.
But, girl, they are so worth it!
# Strip Lashes/Band Lashes and Lower Lashes
Strip or band lashes come in so many different shapes and sizes and much easier to apply yourself compared to individual ones. These conventional type of lashes tend to look more “fake” as well, however they are still extremely popular in the beauty industry as you can apply them more easily yourself. Make sure to resize them by cutting the excess length off to properly fit your eye. Occasionally you can experience some problems like one side of it coming off, but the majority of them can be reused a couple times with proper care.
Choose light weight, criss-crossed pattern for an every day look, and more dramatic and thick pair of falsies for a night out.
But what you really need to know is the correct shape for your face features:
For deep-set eyes use longer lash strips so you can lengthen the eye and define the lash-line
If you have small eyes and your goal is to elongate, choose the pair with thicker outer corners. This will lift your eyes and add length.
If you have no, or very unpronounced crease or wide set eyes, open them up by focusing on the center of your lash line.
# Fashion Eyelashes
Sounds very self-explanatory, right? Made of unconventional materials, like lace, fabric or feathers- needless to say -they are so much fun to use. Since lashes are pieces of art on their own, the majority of them are one of a kind. Application is very similar to strip lashes application, just make sure that you are using a clear eyelash glue so it won’t be seen when it’s dry.
Obviously those are not suitable for an everyday use, but a great option for a fashion photo shoot or perhaps Halloween party.
Regardless of the type you choose, make sure that you use a good quality eye lash glue that matches the color of the lashes or one that is clear. Wait for 15 seconds for glue to set before applying the lashes on – this tip will make your life so much easier- mark my word.
And always remember to stay true to your style, even with a pair of falsies on!
Have a gorgeous day!
XOXO, the Team
